Hi, I’m Kate, I have huge bazookas, which I love very, very much (I think my husband is quite fond of them too) but, I have a love hate relationship with underwear.
If you’re the proud owner of bigger boobs, you’ll know what I’m talking about. The ‘every day’ range in most high street stores consists of something I wouldn’t consider wearing if I was 76, never mind 36, and the ranges designed for D+ that have a little bit of pretty about them seem to cost more than an entire outfit. Coupled with straps as thick as belts. It’s a depressing time shopping for bras!
I like good underwear. Sexy stuff, that, thrown under a sweatshirt, you might never know about, but I do, and that’s why I like it. Life is too short for plain undies and, although I love my stretchy, so comfy I’m not sure I’m wearing them, boy pants, I also, really, really like lacy, racy stuff. Stuff that makes your neighbours nudge each other when they see it on the washing line.
Curvy Kate specialise in bras from D to K cup, and back sizes starting at a 28, up to 44 – they literally cover the sizes that most stores don’t even bother with, even though, there’s a whole bloody load of us out there!
I was sent the Princess Flamingo balcony bra & brazilian set & the Vixen black & almond balcony bra & brazilian set from their online range. SUCH pretty bras and knickers for the big knockered ladies out there!
As well as being bloody gorgeous, they’re also really supportive and well fitting. Sometimes you buy something because it’s too pretty not to, but it offers as much support as a piece of tissue paper, not these babies, they have the three clasps at the back, the cups are shaped to really hug the boobs (we all love a boob hug) and they hold everything in exactly the right place. Up and centre forward, thank you very much.
Pink Flamingo Balcony Bra, Brazilians £16.
I love the pink flamingo set, because, as much as I love all black everything, sometimes, I like to have a pop of colour, so in the summer, when I am still wearing black, the contrast of the pink sneaking out from the straps is a little bit, I don’t know what the word is, but you get my drift don’t you?
It’s non padded, so it really sits against your skin, made from a sort of mesh type fabric with tiny little polka dots all over it. It also comes in white, nude, black, blue and apple green, all with contrasting ribbons.
The Brazilians are seamless so no VPL there!
Vixen Black & Almond Balcony Bra £32, Brazilians £16.50
Despite owning enough black clothing to open my own store, a black bra, that fits, was not part of that collection. Until now! This Vixen set really gets the girls standing to attention. It’s sooooo comfortable and looks bloody gorgeous. I love them more than a woman should love her underwear. This one is foam lined, so, not quite padded but it has that extra layer to stop the nip slip (should you wish to stop it!) It’s also bandless at the front, so it feels more up to date and fresh. Also, with this one, once you get to an F cup, the hook and clasps move from 2 to 3, for added support.
The Brazilians are my favourite. The lace bum is just so pretty, and they fit like a dream.
Next on my wishlist is the collection from Scantilly – oh my god. I can’t even tell you how much I love EVERYTHING in that range. It is to DIE for. You need to have a look – this Surrender bra is just, perfection.
I can feel a whole new underwear wardrobe splurge coming on, bye bye basics, hello Curvy Kate!
pr samples but all opinions my own, of course!
