At the risk of sounding ‘weather chat boring’ – hasn’t the weather changed?! The leaves are starting to fall (hello instagrammable dog walks) and the blogger favourite, Pumpkin Spice Latte, is back – although I’m yet to have one, what’s gone wrong there!? Autumn is definitely on the way! And while I might have packed away the summer dresses and shorts (watch there be a heatwave next week) it’s not quite big coat weather yet.
Simply Be kindly sent me some A/W essentials, although, I am a skinny jeans all year round kind of woman, unless it’s crazy hot, in which case I do break out the legs, but for me, skinny jeans are my uniform of choice so they’re less A/W and more every single day – which, cost per wear works out pretty well!
I love a good t-shirt. A good quality, plain v-neck one is pretty much a staple item, but, a band or a slogan t-shirt is right up there for me, because I wear pretty much basic items, I like to ‘wild’ it up a bit. Cerrrazzy dresser that I am.
Under a jacket, or a chunky cardi when the weather does start to get properly cold, this is my kind of tee. It’s even been to yoga with me because it’s long enough to cover ones backside when said backside is trying to get into the downward dog pose. And, it says Paris on it – is that not enough reason to love it?
Even though I wear jeans almost every single day, and own enough pairs to open my own shop, I am yet to find ‘the one’ pair that will replace all of the others. Being an apple shape, I tend to stick with skinny jeans because I know they suit my shape, and they fit well, there is nothing more soul destroying than trying on 50 pairs of jeans and none of them fit! They need to have just the right amount of stretch, but not too much, because then they end up being more jeggings than jeans.
I love both of these jeans equally, but I’ve found the blue wash Chloe Distressed Skinnies from Simply Be lose their shape after an hour or so, and they become more girlfriend style than skinny. Luckily, on these, it works, so I’ve moved these to my baggier jean collection, but if you bought these with the purpose of them being skinny and nothing else, you might be disappointed. I love the ripped look though, the colour is perfect and they are my favourite jeans at the moment. I just need to partner them with different tops to balance everything out. I love wearing these with a soft grey sweatshirt and my Stan Smiths.
In an ideal world, we should be allowed to take jeans home for a few hours (at least) before we decide if we’re buying them or not – how they fit when you try them on, to how they fit after 3 / 5 / 6 hours can be completely different, like two different pairs of jeans!
The Black Chloe Studded Jeans (is it just me or do black jeans always fit better? Maybe it’s the material!) hold their shape a lot longer. Both Chloe, both size 16, so I’ve no idea why! They have a little bit more stretch so I could have got away with a 14 in these and I LOVE the studded detail around the pockets. Beware, these studs are not just for display, they’re bloody sharp! The hem detailing on these is also a favourite. They’re angled and raw – I’ve only worn them with sandals but they’re going to go really well with the (Gucci style) loafers I have my eye on, and of course, the winter boot.
Last, but not least in my little parcel of joy from Simply Be was a black lace bralet. Now, having big boobs, I’ve never even glanced at a bralet before. Even the name sounds too delicate to keep Phil & Grant under control (my boobs aren’t really named after Eastender characters, I have no idea why I called them that, but they will probably keep their AKA name now!) so I was intrigued by this. I thought I would wear it after my bath, when I still need to have some sort of clothing on before the bloke gets home in the evening and I can let him answer the door (why do people always knock when you’re in pj’s and no make up!?) Well. Hello comfort!
It’s like not wearing a bra, but better. That’s the only way I can describe it. A Sunday bra. A sexy, Sunday bra. Trust me. You need one of these in your life. I don’t know that I’d wear it out, a little too free for my liking, but it is definitely my ‘at home’ bra.
Thank you to Simply Be for gifting me these items, but, as always, all opinions, words and images are my own!
