Batteries ARE included…!

Today, little man was awake for thirteen and a half hours. Solid. Straight. NON stop. Now, he’s never really been a “napper”, Little miss used to nap in the day and I loved it, time to *cough* tidy up and do a bit of housework (or, more likely than not, nap with her, read a mag or watch rubbish, but don’t tell anyone that!) but this little boy? No such bl**dy luck!
Daddy left at 6.20am, (or around there, didn’t actually hear him leave, oops, bye hubby, have a good day!) but I’m pretty sure it was then, as at exactly 6.25am I could hear “dadda, dadda, oof, dadda?” on the monitor. In my sleepy, what the hell time is it, actually what day is it, mood I assumed he was talking to daddy. No. He was just talking. Loudly. At his bister (they’re still sharing a room, hence the need to move like last week) So I quickly got up and grabbed him, sleeping bag and blanket as well and brought him into bed with me. Unfortunately he needed a nappy change, and quickly! So of course, WIDE AWAKE (less could be said for me, pretty hard changing a nappy with one eye open) after 10 mins of “please, just sleep a little bit”, I gave up. Little miss must have heard me sigh because she then joined the party. So, at 6.35am on a Sunday morning we were all up. With nothing to do!

Oh the joys.

Little man spent the day climbing onto the sofa to walk up and down it bouncing and laughing away, with me running back to catch him every time he tried to dive bomb off it. Little miss went through about 7 outfit changes, “what do you think of this mummy?” and I headbutted a few walls (not too many mind, we’re trying to sell the flat)

And this is how the day went. From 6.35am til 7.45pm. (obviously with some breakfast, lunch, dinner, several loads of washing up, four loads of washing, and god knows how many “tidy up’s”. He did not give in. Even when it came to bedtime, he was trying his hardest to not go to sleep.

HOW can a barely one year old survive on so little sleep and still be the cheekiest, happiest little chunk there is!?

Answers on postcards please. Only, ask the postman to deliver them quietly because I really need to catch up on some sleep…..

p.s that picture at the top, is his new “cheese” face. He’s practiced it a lot I think. 🙂

I feel for you!! My little one would NOT sleep when she was a tiny baby – from the moment she woke up she was wide awake until about 11pm at night. She'd doze off while I was feeding her, but the microsecond I attempted to put her down she'd snap awake again. I think she was just so nosy she couldn't bear the thought of missing out on anything!!! Although, in her defence, she is brilliant now and sleeps about two hours each arvo. Mind you, I'm pregnant again, so I use that time to catch up on a bit of work then sleep myself – so it still doesn't feel like I get any kind of break!!!
