The husband and I had a rare night out this week! The LM’s were babysat by Nanny & Dada, and we legged it to Covent Garden, to an AMAZING restaurant called Sitaraay
Tucked away on Drury Lane, its almost a hidden gem, Sitaaray (Hindi for stars) is a Bollywood themed restaurant, which specialises in Indian Grill, unlimited kebabs and curries brought straight to your table.
We were sat upstairs, its a split level restaurant, in our own private little corner, with Bollywood movies and songs playing on TVs in different areas of the restaurant. The walls are covered in artwork, pictures, and drawings from Bollywood, and they are all from the owners personal collection.
There are two menus to choose from, the vegetarian option and the non veggie, both of us went for the non veggie option, but thinking about it now, one of us should have gone for the vegetarian so we could try both! We were then given a “tower” of popaddums and chutneys (hubs was SO happy at this point!) and we were soon off into the meal!
There are SO many dishes to try, at least 13 different ones, and they come on platters straight to your table, and they look as amazing as they taste. Our personal favourites were the Pudina Fish, which is grilled fish tikkas in a mint and green chilli paste, the Pepper Shikampuri, little round lamb kebabs stuffed with mint and peppers and the Amritsari Fish, which is like a fish and chip shop fish in batter but with more flavour than you can imagine!
Hubs and & both love Indian food, but this is so different to anything we’ve ever tried before, the flavours are incredible. I have never been a fan of fish in an Indian restaurant before, but after eating it here, I have changed my mind completely.
You can order as many times as you like, once you’ve reached the end of the kebabs your waiter will ask if there are any kebabs you’d like more of, by the time we got to the curry section we were both already stuffed, and for Hubs, that’s saying something! The dishes are all so delicious you just want to keep eating them! I asked our waiter Ahmed if anyone does manage to order more and he told us there are a few people who manage it! (Next time I go I won’t eat lunch to make sure I have more room!)
The whole menu costs £22.95 per person, with children under 12 costing £15.00 and it is so worth it. If you are ever in London, you have to go to this restaurant, you will not be disappointed I promise.
I’d like to say a big thanks to Gabby at Sterling Communications for arranging the meal for us, and
a massive thank you to the Chef & Ahmed at Sitaaray for a fantastic evening. We’ll be back soon!
