I am an ex smoker. Yup. Disgusting habit, but hey, we all do things we shouldn’t do. And, I’m not going to lie, back then, I really enjoyed smoking. I had no kids, I was (extra) young and had zero responsibilities. So, the fact that I was smoking was more of a way of life than a bad habit.
Obviously I grew up, gained some kids and kind of realised I shouldn’t be shortening my lifespan because of a lifestyle choice!
These days, I literally can’t stand the smell. When someone walks past me in the street and I get a waft of cigarette smoke in my face, I do that whole arm flapping, mouth blowing thing to get the smell away from me. Obviously I do it once the person has gone, I’m not going to make someone else feel bad for stinking up my immediate environment.
Unless they do it near my babies, then I have something to say!
When I think about it, I don’t actually know that many real life smokers anymore. Everyone has given up! That’s obviously a very, very good thing. I know quite a few people who like to vape though. You can play spot the vape on the way to work, it will be the cars with great big pools of vapour pouring out of their windows. All smelling like cake shops, or old fashioned sweets.
It’s like walking through a cloud of flavour!
There are so many options out there for people looking for a way to quit smoking with a safe mechanical mod, from online shops to actual vaping cafes, it’s a whole community! Should you ever find yourself inside a vape cafe, be prepared for the fog. It’s a cross between Costa Coffee and a dry ice machine.
Vaping people (vapers?) take it all, very, very seriously. I suppose it’s not a bad thing, if they’re moving away from cigarettes, and onto something less dangerous, and nicer smelling! I don’t think I’ve ever seen the same vape twice. There are some monsters out there! There are also some very pretty colours to choose from, take that boring old, bad for your health, cigarettes! If you’re going to vape, you may as well make it pretty huh?
Of course, vaping isn’t without it’s health question marks, but I love the fact that all my die hard smokers have no quit the habit for good, my kids are SO against it and I think the fact that so few people do it now will (hopefully) mean there will be less peer pressure/enticement to follow the crowd.
Maybe there’s a day in the near future where there will be more non smokers than actual smokers….!
